How sources are chosen and checked

Every statement of fact is based on a source linked below the article: studies and reviews (mostly via PubMed), recommendations from professional bodies such as the AASM or the AAP, and pages from public bodies such as the WHO, Germany’s Federal Institute for Public Health (BIÖG) or national health services. Every link is opened and checked against the text before it is added.

Where there are no studies, the guide says so: experience values from sleep consulting are labeled as such, and where experts disagree, the guide presents the different views. Statements without a reliable source are left out.

How the guide is written

The guide reports what studies and official bodies say and does not give instructions. It does not describe sleep training methods; whether and how a family changes anything is up to the family.

Sources last checked

All sources are checked in one pass; the date appears below every list of sources. Sources checked: November 2026.

Not a medical device

Moon Hour is a diary and planner that helps parents organise everyday life. Not a medical device; does not replace advice from a doctor or midwife. The guide is general information and does not replace individual advice. Experts recommend contacting your paediatrician or your local out-of-hours medical service if you are worried.
